This map was created by two students in their Musical Pathways class. The Hammered Dulcimers path starts a lot farther back than the Medieval Psalter, but for the sake of this project being on a timeline, we had to shorten our points. The Medieval Psalter comes from the Arabic Qanun, and that from the Santur. There are also many other instruments that are connected that we did not discover. When the Psalter spread through England, it morphed into many other instruments. Two of those German instruments traveled to America when there was a major migration of German-Americans. A third instrument came to America a little sooner, with the colonists. These instruments then continued to change as America grew and developed, changing to fix the mix of cultures and creation of new lifestyles. Some of those instruments include the Autoharp and the Appalachian Dulcimer. We would also like to include that there are certain areas in this project where there is not information available for us to record for a variety of reasons.
